These ratings describe how the generator is expected to operate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Standby rating<\/strong> is intended for emergency backup during a power outage. You should therefore not select a generator based only on its largest advertised kVA figure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For regular or extended operation, size the generator using its <strong>prime rating<\/strong>.
